I am one tuckered cookie. The heat is making it impossible to take a nap and it is not getting cool enough at night to sleep soundly. Have to count my blessing though... we are not near as hot here as it has been in other locales. We have not, thank God, hit triple digits - yet. (Not going to count my chickens before they hatch!)
Sat and Sun were spent cleaning, laundry and getting the youngin ready to start school tomorrow. Where did the summer go? I hate it because I could not take him anywhere this year, but the old man made up for that with trips to the lake and the local race track. They went Sat but were rained out... so they now will be going in Sept when that particular race was rescheduled. Instead they went over to a friends house and visited for awhile. I relaxed, trying to stay semi-cool and played some poker online.
Sunday was spent waiting for a poker tournament that started at 5:30 with a full roster of 8,000 contestants. Yes, 8,000 people! It was a higher stakes free play tournament, which means you are playing with fake money or chips. Usually you start the tournaments with 1,500 in chips, but this one started at 10,000 chips. It also had a longer sign up than the usual hour. You had 3 days to enter this one. I am proud to say that I lasted quite a while and it seemed that alot of people forgot the tournament. There were only two of us playing on our table. We finally got smart and started emptying the sitters (People who don't play, but sit out.) of their chips. We both ended up with about 45,000 each before we had more players. Payouts were from 1-801. The entry fee was 2,500 each. Top place would pay over 2 mil in free chips. I lasted quite a while and went out about 349th place. I am quite proud of myself and ended up with 14,000 as a payout.
I have to honestly say this was the most interesting and fun tourny I have participated in. I hope they do this again soon! It is a challenge of wits, bluffing and figuring out what the other person is really holding in their hand. I love the mental challenge this game gives me. It is not bad when you come up a winner either! This tourny in particular was different for me because I usually play hold'em or Omaha high-low... this was just plain old Omaha. The WH hates this game because it makes him think too hard. Hold'em you are playing all cards... same in stud, but in Omaha you are dealt 4 cards and 5 to the table. You can only play 2 from your hand and 3 from the table. Which means... if there are 5 hearts dealt to the table and you have just the ace of hearts in your hand... you still do not have the flush. You have to have two hearts in your hand to get the flush. See... a thinking game!
Went last night to the local super wally world and bought the youngin basic school supplies and two pairs of pants and two shirts. One pair of jeans do not fit, both the same size... one pair is about to fall off him and the other is almost too tight. I swear... if they can get the sizes close in womens clothes, then why not mens? *rolls eyes* I told him when I get paid again we will go buy him some decent cleats for football, and a few more pairs of pants. He is also begging me for a pair of New Balance tennies from the LL Bean catalog... Oy! He never asks for name brand but I think this once I will get him these. At least they will last longer than the cheap shoes at wally world.
That was my weekend... how was yours?
